How to care for your British flowers

Homegrown blooms are the freshest cut flowers - make the most of their vase life by following these simple steps:

Step 1

Choose a vase

Make sure the vase your display goes into suits the style of bouquet and is as clean as possible as this prevents bacterial growth to keep flowers fresher for longer.

Step 2

Feed your flowers

Fill your vase with fresh lukewarm water and don't forget to add your WaitroseFlorist flower food! This is specially formulated to suit the stems in your bouquet.

Step 3

Trim the stems

Trimming an inch from the bottom of the flower stems at a 45 degree angle allows for optimum water intake so your bouquet appears at its best. Remove any foliage that sits below the water level to keep the water fresh.

Step 4

Find the right place

A cool spot away from direct sunlight and draughts is the best place to display your bouquet.
